Application Scenarios
On a large induced-draft fan serving a power-plant boiler, bearing degradation can escalate from a minor vibration anomaly to catastrophic rotor failure in a matter of hours. Maintenance teams that rely on quarterly handheld vibration surveys routinely miss the window between the onset of imbalance and the point of no return. The 1440-VDRS06-06RH closes that gap: six points on the fan — drive-end and non-drive-end bearings on the motor and rotor, plus the gearbox — are wired to IEPE accelerometers, and the module continuously computes the overall vibration value between its selectable high-pass and low-pass filters. When a value crosses the configured Alert or Danger setpoint, the corresponding 4–20 mA output moves out of range and the channel indicator shifts from yellow to red, while the DeviceNet master reports the event to the plant asset-management system. The net effect is a protection layer that sees the fault developing in real time rather than during the next scheduled route.
