Main Features and Advantages
The principal strength of the 1305-BA03A is its combination of reliable Volts-per-Hertz control and a straightforward terminal interface. For centrifugal and constant-torque loads alike, the drive holds a stable voltage-to-frequency relationship and allows boost to be adjusted for starting performance. Adjustable acceleration and deceleration ramps give smooth starts and stops, reducing mechanical shock on belts, couplings, gearboxes and connected process equipment.
Starting and control flexibility are built into the terminal design. The 1305-BA03A accepts 2-wire or 3-wire control schemes and provides configurable inputs for start/stop, forward/reverse, jog, enable/interlock and external speed-reference selection. Up to seven preset speeds and two acceleration/deceleration times can be selected through the digital inputs, allowing machine sequences to be implemented without a PLC or with only a small PLC presence.
Process interfacing is equally practical. The 1305-BA03A accepts a standard 4–20 mA or 0–10 V speed command, making it easy to accept a setpoint from a flow, pressure or temperature loop, a manual potentiometer, or a PLC analogue output. The programmable relay and open-collector outputs can report run, at-speed, fault or status conditions back to the control system, while the 0–10 V analogue output provides a drive-value signal for monitoring.
Communication remains a real advantage for a legacy drive. The standard SCANport connection on the 1305-BA03A supports a range of documented communication adapters, including RS232/422/485 and DeviceNet options, as well as Flex I/O-to-SCANport arrangements for ControlNet. A SCANport expander can also allow multiple devices to communicate with the drive. This lets existing machines retain their original control architecture rather than being rebuilt around a newer drive.
Performance aids such as high-torque fast acceleration, hybrid current limit, IR compensation and slip
