The AIP830-111 module serves as a “data gateway” between field analog sensors and ABB’s control systems, enabling real-time, high-fidelity acquisition of process parameters in demanding industrial environments. In an offshore oil platform’s crude oil separation process, for example, this module connects to 8 independent field devices: including differential pressure transmitters (measuring oil-water interface levels), temperature RTDs (monitoring separator vessel temperature), and flowmeters (tracking crude oil output). It receives weak analog signals (4-20mA DC or 0-10V DC) from these sensors, processes them via built-in noise filtering and signal amplification circuits, and transmits digitized data to the ABB 800xA DCS—ensuring the DCS has accurate, low-latency data to adjust separation vessel pressure, heating, and valve positions.
