K4LCN-16
Mitsubishi K4LCN-16 Digital Input Module
Product Description
The K4LCN-16 is a high-performance digital input module designed for Mitsubishi’s MELSEC-K series programmable logic controllers (PLCs), specializing in collecting discrete digital signals from industrial field devices. It serves as a critical interface between field equipment (such as limit switches, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, and relay contacts) and the PLC’s central processing unit (CPU), converting physical on/off states into digital data (0s and 1s) for processing and control. This module is widely applied in industries including automotive manufacturing (assembly line sensor monitoring), packaging machinery (conveyor position detection), and food processing (safety interlock switches), where reliable digital signal acquisition is essential for sequence control and equipment safety.
In an automotive assembly line, the K4LCN-16 module connects to proximity sensors installed at each workstation, detecting the presence of car bodies as they move along the conveyor. These signals are transmitted to the MELSEC-K PLC, which uses them to trigger sequential operations (e.g., activating robotic welders when a car body is in position). In packaging machinery, it monitors limit switches that indicate the position of packaging materials, ensuring the PLC initiates sealing or labeling processes only when materials are correctly aligned.
