ABB IMASI23 Analog Input Module (Advant OCS Process Control System Signal Acquisition Unit)
Product Description
IMASI23
The IMASI23 is a high-precision analog input module designed for ABB’s Advant OCS (Open Control System), specializing in the acquisition and conversion of analog process signals from industrial sensors and transmitters. Its primary function is to convert continuous physical quantities (such as temperature, pressure, flow, and level) into digital data that can be processed by the Advant OCS controller, enabling real-time monitoring and control of industrial processes in sectors like chemical processing, oil refining, and power generation. For example, in a distillation column, it can accurately measure the temperature of the overhead vapor (via a thermocouple) and transmit this data to the controller, which adjusts the reflux rate to maintain the desired product purity.
Featuring 8 independent analog input channels, the module supports a wide range of signal types, including 4-20mA current signals, 0-10V voltage signals, and thermocouples (Type J, K, T, E, R, S, B). This versatility allows it to interface with various industrial sensors—for instance, a 4-20mA pressure transmitter measuring reactor pressure (0-100bar) and a Type K thermocouple monitoring the reactor’s internal temperature (0-1000°C) can be connected to the same module.
Each channel operates with a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), ensuring high measurement accuracy: ±0.1% of full scale for 4-20mA and 0-10V signals, and ±0.5°C for thermocouple inputs (after cold junction compensation). The module samples each channel at a rate of 10Hz,
