Product Overview
The 1426-M5E-DNT is an Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) PowerMonitor 5000 Basic Module—the M5 base-model unit with native EtherNet/IP communication and a factory-installed DeviceNet option card. It is a revenue-grade power and energy meter whose job is to convert the analog electrical quantities of a three-phase distribution system into digital, network-visible data: volts, amps, watts, vars, VA, power factor, frequency, demand, and bidirectional energy accumulation. The 1426-M5E-DNT does not protect equipment or trip breakers; it measures, calculates, logs, alarms, and reports.
Inside the meter, four voltage sense channels (V1, V2, V3, VN) and four current sense channels (I1, I2, I3, I4) are sampled at 1024 points per cycle, per channel—producing 1024 data points across all eight channels every 12 to 17 milliseconds. From that raw stream, the 1426-M5E-DNT calculates more than 6,000 parameters every line cycle, including kW, kVA, kVAR, kWh, kVAh, kVARh, demand power factor, displacement power factor, voltage and current unbalance, crest factors for V-V, V-N and I on a per-phase basis, and symmetrical component analysis. The voltage inputs accept up to 690 VAC line-to-line directly (with a line-line metering range of 26–1144 VAC when PT ratio scaling is applied); the current inputs accept 1 A or 5 A secondaries from external current transformers, with a range of 0.05–15.6 A rms.
The value of the 1426-M5E-DNT is concentrated in two areas. First, accuracy: it is ANSI C12.20-2010 Class 0.2 and EN 62053-22-2003 Class 0.2, with voltage and current readings accurate to ±0.1% at 25 °C, 50/60 Hz, unity power factor. This makes it suitable for utility-grade sub-metering and tenant or department cost allocation, not merely for casual load monitoring. Second, connectivity: the native EtherNet/IP port carries the CIP Energy object for direct integration with ControlLogix, CompactLogix, FactoryTalk View, and energy management platforms, while the DeviceNet port provides compatibility with legacy DeviceNet scanner systems or simpler SCADA polling. A built-in web server allows local configuration, trend viewing, and I/O status without proprietary software. Add the four digital inputs for WAGES data collection, four outputs for SCADA or control interfacing, and configurable alarms for up to 20 events, and the 1426-M5E-DNT is a complete energy node rather than a meter with a network port bolted on.
