Triconex 3805E Enhanced Analog Output Module

II. Product Description

The Triconex 3805E is a high – performance analog output module designed for industrial control systems, especially those demanding high reliability and precision. It is a key component within the Triconex Tricon control system, which features a triple modular redundancy (TMR) structure.

3805E

This module is responsible for converting digital signals received from the main processor module into accurate analog output signals. With eight output channels, it can drive various analog – controlled devices in industrial processes. Each output channel is capable of providing a current output in the range of 4 – 20 mA, with an over – range of + 6%. This 4 – 20 mA standard is widely used in industrial applications for transmitting control signals over long distances with high immunity to electrical interference.

The 3805E module incorporates a 12 – bit resolution, enabling highly precise control. This high resolution ensures that the analog output can accurately represent the digital input values, reducing errors in control applications. It has a relatively high output accuracy of less than 0.25% within the 4 – 20 mA range of the full – scale range (0 – 21.2 mA), measured from 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C). This makes it suitable for applications where precise control of process variables such as flow rate, pressure, and temperature is crucial.

The module has a commoned return and is DC – coupled, which simplifies the wiring and connection process in industrial installations. It also features self – calibration and health – monitoring capabilities. It monitors its own current outputs (by measuring them as input voltages) and maintains an internal voltage reference. This allows it to continuously assess its operational status and provide diagnostic information, ensuring reliable long – term operation.

In terms of power, the 3805E provides for redundant loop power sources, with individual power and fuse indicators labeled as Pwr1 and Pwr2. Although external loop power supplies for analog outputs need to be provided by the user, this redundant power source design enhances the module’s reliability. Each analog output module requires up to 1 amp at 24 – 42.5 volts.
