Allen – Bradley 1771 – OAD Digital Output Module
1771-OAD
Product Description
The Allen – Bradley 1771 – OAD is a digital output module that was part of the PLC – 5 series within the 1771 I/O module family. It was designed to play a crucial role in industrial control systems by providing a means to control external devices based on the commands received from a programmable logic controller (PLC).
This module features 16 output channels, each capable of handling a significant amount of electrical load. It was typically used to interface with various industrial equipment such as relays, contactors, solenoids, and other devices that require digital control signals. The 1771 – OAD module could be easily integrated into different types of 1771 I/O chassis, excluding models like 1771 – A1, 1771 – A2, and 1771 – A4.
In industrial applications, the 1771 – OAD module was used to control the operation of motors, lighting systems, and other electrical equipment in manufacturing plants, power generation facilities, and other industrial settings. For example, it could be used to turn on or off a group of motors in a sequential manner based on the logic programmed in the PLC, ensuring smooth and coordinated operation of the production process.
However, it should be noted that as of December 31, 2016, Rockwell Automation announced the discontinuation of the 1771 – OAD module, and it is no longer available for new sales. But it may still be found in existing industrial installations and could potentially be sourced through refurbishment or used – equipment markets.
